Kids Soccer in Scarborough for Boys and Girls Ages 5 to 10

Keep your child playing, improving, and having fun throughout the year. At 416 Soccer Club, players can stay with the same club across every season. Summer sessions are held on local outdoor fields in Scarborough, while fall and winter programs move indoors to MLS Arena. Boys and girls ages 5 to 10 develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy equal playing time in a supportive environment where learning comes first.

Kids Soccer That Keeps Going Beyond Summer

Most kids soccer programmes in Scarborough run through summer and then stop. Your child spends eight weeks building confidence on the field, and then waits eight months to start again. A lot of that progress fades before the next season even opens.

416 Soccer Club runs through all three seasons. Outdoor in the summer on natural grass. Indoor in the fall and winter at MLS Arena on Danforth Road. Same club, same organized structure, same kind of coaching throughout the year. For kids ages 5 to 10, that continuity is what actually builds real skill. And it keeps them coming back.

Three Seasons. Indoor and Outdoor.

Here is what each season looks like and where it runs:

Fall Indoor Season

When outdoor season wraps up, indoor sessions take over at MLS Arena (641 Danforth Rd) every Saturday morning. Covered indoor turf means no weather cancellations and no gap between seasons. Runs from October through mid-January.

Winter Indoor Season

Picks up where fall ends. Same venue, same Saturday format at MLS Arena. Kids who played through fall continue building on what they learned instead of starting over. Runs from late January through late April.

Outdoor Summer Season

Kids practise on natural grass during Wednesday evenings at J.G. Workman P.S. and play matches on Saturday mornings at Highview Soccer Field. Two days a week, local Scarborough fields, and a full season of outdoor play from late May through September.

What Your Child Will Be Doing Each Season

AGES 5 – 6

Soccer Skill Building

For children playing soccer for the first time. Sessions focus on getting comfortable with the ball: basic footwork, coordination drills, and movement games on the field. Coaches keep things fun and low-pressure. No expectations walking in, just a good introduction to the game at the right pace for young kids.

AGES 7 – 10

Soccer Development

Players in this group move into structured skill work: passing, dribbling under pressure, positioning, and small-sided games that teach how the game actually works. Sessions are longer and more purposeful, giving kids enough time to practise techniques and then apply them in game situations. A good fit for kids who’ve played a season or two and are ready for more structure, and for first-timers who are a bit older and ready to jump in.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL BENEFITS

CERTIFIED COACHES

All coaches are trained to work with young kids and know how to keep them safe. Positive and encouraging approach to build confidence at every step.

FUN & SAFE ACTIVITIES

Age-appropriate games and drills focused on making soccer fun. Our goal is for your child to enjoy every moment while staying safe and learning new skills.

ALWAYS SUPERVISED

Your child will always be supervised and well taken care of. Small group sizes ensure every child gets personalized attention and care.

HOW TO CHOOSE

Consider location, coaching quality, and whether indoor or outdoor suits your child’s season. We’re here to help you pick the best program for your 5-6-year-old.

What Your Child’s First Season Looks Like

If your child has never been in a soccer club before, here is what to expect from start to finish:

1. Register online for the right age group

Visit the programs page, find your child’s age group and the upcoming season, and complete registration online. Pricing is listed on the page before you commit.

2. Sort out the kit before the first session

Your child needs their official 416 Soccer Club uniform, shin guards, and appropriate footwear (cleats for outdoor, turf shoes or clean running shoes for indoor). Call us at (416) 887-7673 if you have questions about what to bring.

3. Get set up on TeamSnap

The club uses TeamSnap for session schedules, updates, and weather notices. Everything comes through the app. No hunting through group chats or wondering if a session is cancelled.

4. Show up and let the coaches take it from there

First sessions are always a bit unfamiliar. Coaches here are trained to work with young children and know how to settle nervous kids into the group. Most children are comfortable by the second or third session.

Why Scarborough Parents Choose 416 Soccer Club for Their Kids

Coaches trained to work with children this age

Every coach carries first aid certification and follows a structured youth development curriculum. Working with a nervous six-year-old is genuinely different from coaching a teenager, and the approach here reflects that. Positive reinforcement is built into how sessions are run, not just mentioned in a welcome email.

Every child plays. No bench-sitting

Equal playing time is standard across all age groups. No child sits out a session because a coach thinks another player is more valuable to the game. For parents with kids in the 5 to 10 age range, this matters a lot. It’s one of the most common frustrations with youth sports programmes at this age.

Parents can watch every session

Indoor sessions at MLS Arena have dedicated spectator seating. Outdoor sessions at J.G. Workman P.S. and Highview Soccer Field are accessible for parents throughout. You don’t have to drop your child at a gate and guess how it went. You can watch the whole thing.

No scoreboard pressure at this age

The focus is on skill development and enjoyment, not results. Coaches don’t run sessions around winning. Kids who are still figuring out which foot to use aren’t going to be left feeling like they let the team down. The environment is competitive enough to stay interesting and relaxed enough to stay enjoyable.

A real local club, not a franchise

416 Soccer Club is rooted in Scarborough. The coaches who run fall indoor sessions are the same ones your child trains with in the summer. Families from Birchcliff, Agincourt, Malvern, West Hill, and surrounding neighbourhoods come back season after season. Not because there’s no other option, but because the club genuinely feels like part of the community.

Communication that actually works

TeamSnap handles schedules, session notices, and weather updates. Information goes directly to parents through the app. No missed messages, no scrambling to find out if Saturday’s session is still on.
